Biography

Denise Perron, CHRP, President

For over 25 years, Ms. Denise Perron has been involved in assisting major companies and organizations manage pay and employment equity.

Since 2004, Ms Perron is president of Groupe ÆQUITAS, a consulting firm offering expert advice to companies having to implement pay equity and employment equity initiatives.

In 1997, after consultation with associations most representative of employers (Conseil du patronat), Ms. Perron was nominated by the Government of Quebec to the position of Commissioner (employer's representative) with the Pay Equity Commission of Quebec.

In this role, she was given the mandate to make decisions on and administer the implementation of the new Pay Equity Act, a law described by many as the world's most far-reaching legislation on this issue. During this period (7 years), she made over 300 major decisions.

For 5 years, Ms. Perron was Head of the employment equity/diversity consulting services offered by the Montreal office of Towers Perrin (now Towers Watson), an international consulting firm. She advised major corporate clients on gender equity and diversity issues, including pay and employment equity.

Before joining Towers Perrin, Denise Perron worked in Washington, D.C. (USA) and in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).

Denise Perron completed her graduate studies in Community Politics and Law at Concordia University in Montreal and her undergraduate studies in Sociology at the University of Ottawa.

Ms. Perron is often invited to speak on topics related to equity.

She is a member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés du Québec.

She represents the Canadian Employers Council on equity issues at the annual International Labor Conference (United Nations) in Geneva.
